Future VC 2023 - A Commitment to Creating Impact in VC

Updated: Oct 13, 2022

By Anishka Prasad - Head of Strategy & Operations, Future VC

Ever since its inception in 2018, Future VC has been on a mission to support talented individuals, to help them learn about and work in VC, and by doing so, improve the inclusiveness of the venture capital industry. Over 90 VC funds have participated in the Future VC programme since then.

We aim to equip our interns with a complete theoretical and practical understanding of what a career in VC involves and the skills needed to get started, in addition to offering placements, masterclasses, personal development sessions, and preparation for job hunting

After 4 years of successfully making an impact in increasing diversity and inclusiveness in VC globally, Future VC has revised its programme format and made some welcomed changes suggested by both VC funds we have worked with in the past and its alumni interns from previous cohorts.

With over 150 people graduating from our core internship programme worldwide. Additionally, we’ve made our content available to people around the world as we democratise Venture Capital knowledge and understanding, to an audience of nearly 500 people in 166 international cities during the pandemic alone. We’ve also achieved high levels of representation, including over 65% representation of women in the most recent cohort and consistently ~50% representation from ethnic minority groups.

Our flagship programme consisted of an 8 week internship running bi-annually, will be extended to a much longer programme. The initial 8 weeks of the programme will now be a preliminary masterclasses and workshops based induction period, which then transitions to two consecutively run 3 month internships, making the entire course of the internship programme 6 months.

Our research and feedback from VC funds and alumni indicated that extending the programme would enhance the candidate's experience, and help them gain more experience with a fund for a longer period of time.

These changes are in line with the feedback we’ve gathered, and are aimed to further improve the interns’ exposure within the VC industry, as it boosts their chances of further pursuing a career in VC after they have completed their internship with us and in turn form longer lasting relationships within the network.

We look forward to implementing the new Future VC programme from the beginning of 2023 and excited to receive applications from our potential new candidates.
